Intro to Lessons 51 – 60

W-pi.51-

Oneness Commentary:

LESSON 51

+++

W-pI.51.1. (1) Nothing I see means anything.

Close your eyes and imagine whatever you like. Think of this as seeing as you know it. There is a place in your mind that knows that your “eyes” are sightless, even though you may have a vivid experience of “sight”.

W-pI.51.2. (2) I have given what I see all the meaning it has for me.

If you find a reason to be upset with something in this “vivid experience of ‘sight’”, you will ignore your suspicions that your eyes are sightless. Even so, you recognize that you are in pain. Because of this pain, there is a willingness to let go of painful judgments. Your commitment to this Course is also evidence that you have not entirely deceived yourself.

W-pI.51.3. (3) I do not understand anything I see.

If this were a dream, you would probably not devote serious attention to solving the problems you see within it.

This is a dream.

W-pI.51.4. (4) These thoughts do not mean anything.

Only God’s thoughts are Real thoughts. God can have no “attention” on (or thought of) the non-existent (the un-Real). What you call thought is not really thinking. Real thinking is the thinking you think with God. Why must you take “your” thoughts so seriously?

W-pI.51.5. (5) I am never upset for the reason I think.

“Your” thoughts seem to be important, but this is not the thinking you think with God.

What you now call “upsetting thoughts” are about “something else” or “someone else”, which cannot be true in Oneness. Further, can you be upset, even with yourself, if there is no witness, victim, or judge (all missing in Oneness)?

Your upset-ness is like a loud noise to distract. “… full of sound and fury signifying nothing.”

LESSON 48

A Course In Oneness Blog

Instructions below *

Intro to Part I

W-pi.48-

Oneness Commentary:

LESSON 48

There is nothing to fear.

+++

Fear is a separation idea. What is feared is your thought of walls, projected “outward”. There must be a separating wall between one who fears and what is feared. The “you” that-you-think-you-are, is the source of all that you fear.

There can be no walls in Oneness.

No matter how much you desire “something else”, anything not Oneness is illusion.

Oneness and God are non-different.

The extent to which you recognize that only Oneness is true is the same extent to which you remember God.

This remembrance is the end of fear.

LESSON 47

A Course In Oneness Blog

Instructions below *

Intro to Part I

W-pi.47-

Oneness Commentary:

LESSON 47

God is the strength in which I trust.

+++

Separation means that you are on your own. Separation means that there are other parts, as you are a part. These other parts must be different if separation is true. One of these other (different) parts may be bigger or stronger. Therefore, “threat” seems possible.

By definition, the “parts” must be unknown to each other, or else separation must be denied. You feel vulnerable to any unknown part that is potentially bigger or stronger than the part you identify as “you”.

As “you” identify as a part or a piece, the strength you identify with is the strength of a part or a piece. How can this strength be trusted compared to the strength of the whole?

Strength has no meaning in Oneness. Power is not necessary. There is no such thing as effort. This, however, is not your experience because you do not completely accept or identify with Oneness.

“You” believe the impossible. “You” believe you are a part of the indivisible.

Fortunately, Oneness remains true if you believe it or not. It is the strength of Oneness that we connect with and rely on in today’s practice.

LESSON 46

A Course In Oneness Blog

Instructions below *

Intro to Part I

W-pi.46-

Oneness Commentary:

LESSON 46

God is the Love in which I forgive.

+++

A better term for Oneness is Only-ness.

If Only-ness is true, only God exists. If Only-ness is true, God=Love=Forgiveness.

Fear requires that the fearful be “set apart” from that which is feared.

Because Only-ness is true, the specialness and distinctions of a separated world require constant justification. These justifications enable you to assert that you are “set apart” from others and, therefore, “set apart” from God.

Forgiveness represents the “letting go” of these justifications.

Forgiveness is the reminder that Only-ness remains true, even within an experience that validates a fearful and separated world.

A Course In Oneness Blog

Instructions below *

Intro to Part I

W-pi.45-

Oneness Commentary:

LESSON 45

God is the Mind with which I think.

+++

In Reality, Mind is One, non-different. What you now call thinking occurs in different minds and, therefore, cannot be Real thinking.

In Reality, in which there is only God (One, without parts or pieces), God is non-different from Love or any creation of God.

In Reality, the mind you think with God must be Non-different and therefore think Real Thought.

Non-difference thinking is a quality that you can Know of God, even while immersed in the perceptual world of separation and different minds.

LESSON 44

A Course In Oneness Blog

Instructions below *

Intro to Part I

W-pi.44-

Oneness Commentary:

LESSON 44

God is the light in which I see.

+++

Right-mindedness is the correct perception of the light and the darkness.

As Oneness is true, Real sight is a function of the mind, not the eyes.

You think you know what light is, but you do not. Your knowledge of light was taught to you by your eyes. The eyes rely on contrast and otherness.

What you think of as light is that it is a symbol of life. Light contrasts in your mind with the darkness; the absence of, or the contrasting otherness of this light. For your mind, this contrasting otherness or absence of life is death.

In One-mindedness (Only-ness thinking), God’s Reality is “Known” beyond perceptions. In Only-ness thinking, there is no contrasting otherness. Darkness is, therefore, an “opposite” that cannot be True if Oneness is true.

In this Course, life can have no opposite

Oneness Commentary:

LESSON 42

God is my strength. Vision is His gift.

+++

As Oneness is true, what you are cannot be different than what God is. The truth of Oneness with God means your strength can be no different.

As Oneness is true, the vision of Oneness is possible in this separated world – the sight of what we are. Recognition of the inevitable experience of your actuality is “the gift”.

The gift must be yours as Oneness is true.
