Intro to Part I

LESSON 17

 I see no neutral things.

W-pi.17

Oneness Commentary:

Oneness is pure, perfect and eternally joyful. Oneness is love with no opposite “outside” it and no perceptible distinctions “within”.

The ego must “paint over” this profound and simple peace with stripes of different colors, shapes and sizes then sell you on the idea that it is reality. Now, everything you perceive is perceived as it compares and contrasts with something else. Before you can question this sell job, the ego shouts “Look out there!”, or “Watch out for that one!” or “Here! Protect this one instead of that one!”. While you deal with disturbing “problems”, you forget to question the source of the stripes that you perceive. Your thought system remains enmired in “separation mode”.

This mode is the source of the illusion-of-a-world that you see and the reason you seem to be here in it.

Oneness is a freedom currently beyond your experience. The recovery of the experience of this freedom requires that you first accept your current mode of thinking, just as it is. However, it is hidden from you the way water is unknown to a fish. To know your mind, you must pay attention to and respect what shows up in the illusion.

In the illusion, any perception is available to be experienced, at any time. In fact, the world’s illusory nature is the very reason that this is so. There is no “order” imposed from “outside” of this illusion. If this was not true, you would indeed be a “victim of the world you see”.

Intro to Part I

LESSON 16

 I have no neutral thoughts.

W-pi.16

Oneness Commentary:

In separation, the nature of your thinking is expressed within the illusion, as process; time seems true.

As the nature of your thinking is the cause of what you perceive, the illusory world you know is an effect. Do not disregard this illusion because it is illusion or because you do not like what you encounter.

The nature of your thinking remains beyond direct awareness but can be known via your perceptions. The nature of your thoughts either reflect the “truth” of multiplicity or the Truth of simplicity (Oneness). For this reason, your life experience can be the curriculum for separation or for Oneness.

In separation, the nature of your thinking is expressed within the illusion, as process; time seems true.

 ~

In Oneness, thoughts have no “where” to “go”. There can be no separation between thought and expression. The idea and the expression of the idea is One.

LESSON 15

My thoughts are images that I have made.

W-pi.15

Oneness Commentary:

Simply stated, Oneness cannot contain “things” and there can be “no-thing” outside Oneness. The challenge we confront today is that our perception is filled with many “things”. Perception requires differences and distinction.

The body is your most perceptible experience. Care of this body makes differences seem important. As long as you seem to have a body, you must respect the body you seem to have. As long as you seem to have a body you must respect the likelihood that you believe differences are important.

While you believe differences are important, you will never question the function of your eyes, as organs that see “things” that seem to really be there. While you believe differences are important, you will experience barriers to the experience of Loves presence.

This Course is mind training in letting go of these barriers.

LESSON 14

God did not create a meaningless world.

W-pi.14

Oneness Commentary:

“Complexity is not of God. How could it be, when all He knows is One? He knows of one creation, one reality, one truth and but one Son. Nothing conflicts with oneness.”
T-26.III.1:1-4

The world you see is complex and full of conflict. The ego is “comfortable” with the world. As you identify with the ego, you embrace this conflict. You may find it difficult to accept conflict as “comfortable”; you do not notice how often you define your “self” by what you are against.

Your tolerance of Oneness is limited because you identify with the ego. Think of complexity as swaddling that you have become comfortable with, even though it is also constraining and confining. This swaddling is, of course, a barrier. If Oneness is true, there can be no barriers, only a “space” that is perfect and open yet full and complete.

Learning to tolerate the presence of this “open space” will enable you to make the choice to identify with your Real self. Practice is required. There may be discomfort in this process and this is understandable.

In this, you are not alone.

LESSON 13

A meaningless world engenders fear.

W-pi.13

Oneness Commentary:

What you are, is that open space into which meaning is drawn; it is your function to choose meaning.

You have a limited tolerance for the “open space” of what you are, because you identify with the ego and not with the Oneness of God. The ego you have identified with, is like a person who finds quietude disturbing and must fill the air with talk (chatter) of “something else”. The meaning of perceptions, provided by the ego, is of separation and is therefore impossible. Impossible or not, you believe your perceptions.

“What is everything leaves room for nothing else”, means that Oneness, God’s Reality, is the only Reality. The meaning provided by the Holy Spirit, is the “open space” that you really are, which resembles the Reality of Oneness.

Developing tolerance for the presence of this open space will allow you to identify with your actual Self; practice is required.

In this, you are not alone.

LESSON 12

I am upset because I see a meaningless world.

W-pi.12

Oneness Commentary:

The ego-mind is distressed by that-which-is-neither good nor bad; in nor out; up nor down; right nor left. The ego is comfortable with differences and distinctions because separation is justified by it. The Oneness of Reality must be painted over with the stripes of differences and distinction, else the ego is distressed.

Differences and distinctions make partitions and barriers to separate this from that. We hide behind these barriers for protection, forgetting that the barriers themselves are the justification we really have for our fear. We have accepted that we must be alone and isolated, because of these barriers.

We forget Oneness. We forget to laugh. We forget what we are. Fear is our experience.

Without barriers, there is simply Oneness; there can be no “other” to fear.

This is why fear has no place in Oneness.

Intro to Part I

LESSON 11

My meaningless thoughts are showing me a meaningless world.

W-pi.11

Oneness Commentary:

What you currently call thinking occurs as a voice that you hear in your head. You have identified with this “chatterer” and have accepted all of its chatter as though it was you “thinking”. What you have overlooked is that you have been made “the listener”.

The voice chatters on about differences and distinction seen in the world. It chatters about why they these differences are important. It chatters on about the threat that results from these differences.

Because of your identification with this voice, you accept the world-view of the chatterer and you seldom question it. When you do question the validity of its chatter, you do so based on its world view. You question this voice in one area but not in another because that area is different and that difference is important (says the voice).

To the extent that you believe differences are important, forgiveness can be difficult.

Your challenge is that the world you see is based on this world view.

This, is the barrier to the experience of loves presence.

There can be no barriers that separate, if Oneness is true.

Intro to Part I

LESSON 10

My thoughts do not mean anything.

W-pi.10

Oneness Commentary:

What you now call thinking, occurs as a voice in your head. This is a process that makes you the audience. You have identified with this “chatterer” and accept all its chatter as though it was you “thinking”. You, therefore, equate thinking with being the listener. This is Two-ness, not Oneness.

You are REALLY the space into which the speaker speaks.

You are upset but are not fully aware of your upset. It is like a constant, pain that you will not fully recognize until it is not there anymore. It is like the constant noise of nature that is noticed only by its absence before a big storm.

The voice chatters on about differences and distinction and why they are important. It chatters about the threat resulting from these differences and this is also upsetting. This upset and the seeming importance of these differences distracts you from questioning the lie of separation.

You are not alone in this experience.

In Oneness, actual thinking occurs outside of time and space. What “becomes known” through real thinking, is “the always known”. Even that which becomes known to you in time, seems to come to you, but when it is realized, is always and ever present. It feels as though it belongs to you or, in a sense, IS you eternally.

In Oneness, the known and the knower are no different.

LESSON 9

Intro to Part I

LESSON 9

I see nothing as it is now.

W-pi.9

Oneness Commentary:

What we call “seeing” is an attempt to cut (shatter) what is Whole, Complete, Perfect and One.

You “see” what-is-Whole through a lens that shows you a shattered existence, much like using a kaleidoscope as a looking glass. You have convinced yourself that each different color, shape and angle is a sane reflection of reality. You have assigned meaning where there is none. This meaning allows you to organize parts of what you see, while other parts defy meaning.

The importance that you have assigned to some parts of what you see, is different than the importance you have assigned to other parts that you see. This seeming importance distracts you from questioning the lie of differences, distinctions and separation.

The mean and its assigned importance is taught to you in your past. This is why you see nothing as it is now.

This is upsetting because, in your mind is buried the recognition of Truth, which is known to you as wholeness and completeness (Oneness). There are no parts in this Oneness. You are upset but are not fully aware of this upset because it is like a constant, dull pain that you would only recognize when it is absent.

Actual seeing occurs outside of time and space. Actual seeing, notices differences but finds them unimportant like the boundaries of a shadow falling across a leaf. The shadow does not cut the leaf that it falls across. The cutting of the leaf can only be true, if the difference between the shaded and unshaded area is of significance.

There is no “significance” in Oneness.

Intro to Part I

LESSON 8

My mind is preoccupied with past thoughts.

W-pi.8

Oneness Commentary:

You believe time is true.

Time is an attempt to separate eternity into different parts; each being different in that it seems to follow in a sequence with other moments.

Time can only be true, if difference is true.

The past seems well worth your attention because you imagine that it allows you to control and predict the future. This makes time seem even more important. Its seeming importance distracts you from questioning the lie of difference and separation.

Real thinking occurs outside of time. Real thought occurs now and now and now and now. Each now is the same now.

In Oneness there is only this one NOW. There is no time.
