LESSON 19

Course In Oneness Blog

Instructions below *

Intro to Part I

LESSON 19

 I am not alone in experiencing the effects of my thoughts.

+++

The mind is One, as God is one. The one mind that accepts multiplicity seems to experience many other minds.

Because the mind is truly One, a change in any seemingly separate mind must change the One.

Intro to Part I

LESSON 18

 I am not alone in experiencing the effects of my seeing.

+++

Alone means, “someone else” is possible but not available. In this sense, it may be more correct to say that Oneness does not mean loneliness but

“Only-ness”.

Only-ness means, the mind is One as God is one. This One-mind, accepting multiplicity, seems to experience many minds. One way home for the mind in this state, is to recognize that all seemingly separate minds are joined in the One-mind. (To such a mind, the joining of what-could-never-have-been-broken, is helpful.)

To recognize that there can be no “alone” in Only-ness, is helpful also.

LESSON 17

Course In Oneness Blog

Instructions below *

Intro to Part I

LESSON 17

 I see no neutral things.

+++

Oneness is pure, perfect and eternally joyful. Oneness is love with no opposite “outside” it and no perceptible distinctions “within”.

The ego must “paint over” this profound and simple peace with stripes of different colors, shapes and sizes then sell you on the idea that it is reality. Now, everything you perceive is perceived as it compares and contrasts with something else. Before you can question this sell job, the ego shouts “Look out there!”, or “Watch out for that one!” or “Here! Protect this one instead of that one!”. While you deal with disturbing “problems”, you forget to question the source of the stripes that you perceive. Your thought system remains enmired in “separation mode”.

This mode is source of the illusion-of-a-world that you see and the reason you seem to be here in it.

The recovery of the experience of the freedom of Oneness requires that you first accept your current mode of thinking, just as it is. However, it is hidden from you the way water is unknown to a fish. To know your mind, you must pay attention and respect what shows up in the illusion.

Because it is an illusion, any perception is available to be experienced, at any time. In fact, the world’s illusory nature is the very reason that this is so. There is no “order” imposed from “outside” of this illusion. If this was not true, you would indeed be a victim of the world you see.

LESSON 16

Course In Oneness Blog

Instructions below *

Intro to Part I

LESSON 16

 I have no neutral thoughts.

+++

In Oneness, thoughts have no “where” to “go”. There can be no separation between thought and expression. The idea and the expression of the idea is One.

In separation, thoughts manifest within the illusion, where time seems true.

Do not disregard your illusions when you encounter something in it that you do not like. Instead, apply this lesson because whatever you perceive is perceived because of your way of thinking.

The nature of your thoughts is the cause of what you perceive. This makes the world you know, an effect.  The nature of your thoughts will either reflect the illusion of multiplicity or the truth of simplicity (Oneness).

Intro to Part I

LESSON 15

My thoughts are images that I have made.

+++

Simply stated, Oneness cannot contain “things” and there can be “no-thing” besides Oneness. The challenge we confront today is that our perception is filled with many “things”. Perception requires differences and distinction.

“Care” of the body makes differences seem important. As long as you seem to have a body, you must respect the body you seem to have. As long as you seem to have a body you must respect the likelihood that you believe differences are important.

While you believe differences are important, you will never question the function of your eyes, as organs that see “things” that seem to “really” be there. While you believe differences are important, you will experience barriers to the experience of Loves presence.

LESSON 14

A Course In Oneness Blog

Intro to Part I

LESSON 14

 God did not create a meaningless world.

+++

“Complexity is not of God. How could it be, when all He knows is One? He knows of one creation, one reality, one truth and but one Son. Nothing conflicts with oneness.”
T-26.III.1:1-4

The world you see is complex and full of conflict. The ego is “comfortable” with the world. As you identify with the ego, you also embrace this conflict. You may find it difficult to accept conflict as “comfortable”, yet you do not notice how often you define your “self” by what you are against.

Your tolerance of Oneness is limited because you identify with the ego. Think of complexity as swaddling that you have become comfortable with, even though it is also constraining and confining. This swaddling is, of course, a barrier. If Oneness is true, there can be no barriers, only a “space” that is perfect and open yet full and complete.

Learning to tolerate the presence of this “open space” will enable you to choose to identify with your Real self. Practice is required. At first there may be discomfort and this is understandable.

In this, you are not alone.

LESSON 13

A Course In Oneness Blog

Instructions below *

Intro to Part I

LESSON 13

 A meaningless world engenders fear.

+++

Which could be the impossible, the meaninglessness of the world or the world itself? Which could be the non-existent, the meaninglessness of the world or the world?

What you are, is that open space into which meaning is drawn. It is your function to choose meaning. You have a limited tolerance for what you are, because you identify with the ego and not with God or the Holy Spirit.

The meaning of perceptions provided by the ego is separation and is therefore impossible. Impossible or not you believe your perceptions.

The meaning of the Holy Spirit is really the same meaning as the open space that you really are. The open space, that is you, resembles Reality. “What is everything leaves room for nothing else”, means that Oneness, God’s Reality, is the only reality.

The ego is intolerant of this open space, this Oneness. It is like a person who finds quietude disturbing and must fill the air with talk (chatter). The ego must fill this open space with talk of “something else”. Your tolerance of this open space is limited because you have identified with the ego.

Developing tolerance for the presence of this open space will allow you to identify with yourself but practice is required. In this, you are not alone.
