W-pi.11-

Oneness Commentary:

LESSON 11

 My meaningless thoughts are showing me a meaningless world.

+++

What you currently call thinking occurs as a voice in your head.

The voice chatters on about differences and distinctions seen in the world. It chatters about why these differences are important.

It chatters on about the threat that results from these differences. To the extent that you believe these differences are important, forgiveness can be difficult.

You have identified with this “chatterer” and accept all its chatter as though it were you, “thinking”. You un-mindfully equate thinking with being the listener, the audience.

Because of your identification with this voice, you accept the world-view of the chatterer, and you seldom question it. When you do question the validity of its chatter, you do so based on its worldview. You question this voice in one area but not in another because that area is different, and that difference is important (says the voice).

Your challenge is that the world you see is based on this worldview. And this worldview imagines that there are barriers to the experience of love’s presence.

There can be no barriers that separate if Oneness is true.

Oneness is true.

LESSON 10

 My thoughts do not mean anything.

+++

What you now call “thinking”, is experienced as a voice in your head.

The voice chatters on and on about the differences and distinctions that separate and why these differences are important.

It chatters about the threat resulting from these differences, which is upsetting. This upset and the seeming importance of these differences distract you from questioning the lie of separation.

You have identified with this “chatterer” and accept all its chatter as though it were you “thinking”. You un-mindfully equate thinking with being the listener, the audience.

You are not alone in this experience.

In Oneness, actual thinking occurs outside of time and space. What “becomes known” to you through real thinking is “the always-known”. What comes to you in time, when realized, feels always and ever-present as though it belongs to you, or, in a sense, IS you eternally.

In Oneness, the known and the knower are no different.

LESSON 9

Intro to Part I

W-pi.9-

Oneness Commentary:

LESSON 9

 I see nothing as it is now.

+++

What we call “seeing” is an attempt to cut (shatter) what is Whole, Complete, Perfect, and One.

You “see” what-is-Whole through a lens that shows you a shattered existence, much like using a kaleidoscope as a looking glass. You have convinced yourself that each different color, shape, and angle is a sane reflection of reality. You have assigned meaning to this “sane reflection of reality” where there is none. This meaning allows you to organize parts of what you see, while other parts defy meaning and organization.

The importance that you give those parts of what you assign meaning to differs from the importance you give to other parts you see. This seeming importance distracts you from questioning the lie of differences, distinctions, and separation.

In your past, you taught yourself the meaning and importance of things. This clouded lens is why you see nothing as it is now.

This is upsetting because the recognition of Truth, known to you as wholeness and completeness (Oneness), is buried in your mind. There are no parts in this Oneness. You are upset but are not fully aware of this upset because it is like a constant, dull pain that you would only recognize when it is absent.

Actual seeing occurs outside of time and space. Actual seeing will notice differences but find them unimportant, like the boundaries of a shadow falling across a leaf. The shadow does not cut the leaf that it falls across. A “cut leaf” can only be true if the difference between the shaded and unshaded areas is of profound significance.

There is no “significance” in Oneness.

Intro to Part I

W-pi.8-

Oneness Commentary:

LESSON 8

 My mind is preoccupied with past thoughts.

+++

You believe that time is true.

Time can only be true if difference and separation are true.

Time is an attempt to separate eternity into different parts; each moment is different in that it seems to follow in a sequence with other moments. These moments are in your past, your present, or are imagined to be in your future.

 The past seems well worth your attention because you imagine that it allows you to control and predict the future. This makes time seem even more important. This seeming importance distracts you from questioning the lie of difference and separation.

Real thought occurs outside of time, now and now and now and now; each “now” is the same “now”.

In Oneness, there is only this one NOW, and there is no “not now”.

There is no time.

Oneness Commentary:

LESSON 7

I see only the past.

+++

It is in the past that you have learned the context you use to interpret today’s experiences.

This past is like tinted glasses that you have always worn. Now, you are unaware of the tint because you have come to believe that the world is “that hue”.

The vision these tinted lenses provide is a context in which Oneness is not true and the “other” is real and a threat.

You have come to think of this as “Just the way that it is”.

Today, we call this view into question.

Oneness Commentary:

LESSON 6

I am upset because I see something that is not there.

+++

You believe the voice in your head; you call it “My thoughts”.

Notice that, among upsetting things, one thing is always more upsetting, more special than another. This makes them both special and different. You are upset and do not remember that differences cannot be true if Oneness is true.

Consider these questions:

Are you the “thinker” of these thoughts or simply the audience for this voice?

Do you have these thoughts, or do these thoughts have you?

Oneness Commentary:

LESSON 5

 I am never upset for the reason I think.

+++

The essence of upset is generally about the “other”, even when it seems to be about “me”. This is because we know and define “me,” by contrast, with the idea of some “other” (some “not me”).

The idea of the “other” is based on the assumption that the idea of “something-else” is not only possible but true. This must be a lie if Oneness is true. You cannot focus on this lie while you are upset.

In other words, “Upset-ness” is a wonderful distraction from noticing that separation is not true.

Oneness Commentary:

LESSON 4

These thoughts do not mean anything.

They are like the things I see in this room

[on this street, from this window, in this place].

+++

You have questioned the meaning that you have given the experiences of your perceptions. It is time to consider the thoughts that supplied that meaning.

You may notice that most of these thoughts are about “something-else” and about what makes “something-else” special.

A Course In Miracles states, “What is everything leaves room for nothing else.“ (ACIM, T-26.III.1:12)

This means that Oneness, God’s Reality, is the only reality. “Something-else” is not possible.

Many accept intellectually that Oneness is true. However, generally speaking, if you seem to be “here”, you believe in “something-else”. If you did not believe in “something-else”, you would not seem to be “here” in this room, on this street, in this place.

LESSON 3

I do not understand anything I see in this room
[on this street, from this window, in this place].

+++

After years of going along with your default assumptions, you tend to forget that you have a choice in how you see things. You think you understand what you perceive in the world because of the meaning the world taught you to give everything in it.

This is an opportunity to consider that there is another possible view of the world.

Could there be another meaning? What does this mean from the perspective of Oneness? What is the meaning from the standpoint of separation?

Right now, the questions are more important than the answers.

This questioning is a courageous step that must be taken with trust and open-mindedness.

Stay curious.

Oneness Commentary:

LESSON 2

I have given everything I see in this room

[on this street, from this window, in this place]

all the meaning that it has for me.

+++

Your default tendency is to overlook the fact that you have assigned meaning to the things you perceive. This assigned meaning increases or decreases that thing’s “specialness” compared to other things.

If the assigned meaning is particularly significant to you, you will take that thing seriously. Perhaps you will even see it as a threat. You forget to laugh. You, then, become unable to see things as they are.

This process magnifies separation in your mind.

This is how Oneness seems to be shattered into a multitude.
